End of Summer Activities

Here it is, September 1st, the official end of summer. The nights are getting cool, the sun is setting earlier. Up here in Maine we're preparing for our long winter.

The knitting has been picking up speed. I usually don't have too much interest in knitting during the summer because: a. it's hot. b. it's humid. and c. I want to spend as much time outdoors as I can.

The last few weeks have been a little more productive. I'm almost done with Howie's sweater. Yeah, half a sleeve left! I did finish this last week. Just never got around to photographing.

It's a gift for my sister. Sorry if you're reading this and I ruined the surprise. Her birthday was last week but I haven't seen her because she's been on the go ALL summer. Now that her kids are back in school it will be easier to track her down.
Here's on with Moebius doing the sniff test. I think it met his approval.

The other activity that's been keeping us busy around here is this:

We had two cords of wood delivered. The pile was enormous! We've been stacking a little at a time. Down to less than half a cord left. Howie has been great about keeping on task, doing a little every day. That pile will be gone soon.

We're off for a weekend of camping on Mount Dessert Island. Howie just informed me that his goal is to fill the camera with pictures so I may have lots to post next week.

i feel the same way about being outdoors as much as possible during the summers! they are so short, when winters are so long!

~ your woodpile is sexay!
i'll miss it a bit this year, but i won't miss all the splitting and stacking (it was all we had last year.& don't have a wood stove at all in this place... a gas fireplace, tho, lol.)

Nice lace! I won't tell your sister if she hasn't received and/or spied it yet... You've inspired me to knit a dishcloth.

i too love this lace scarf and i'm lusting after the pattern! my mom makes the dishcloths in the family and i'm in charge of shredding them in my garbage disposal!
