Odessa in Blue

...Glacier, actually. Rowan Cashsoft DK. Grumperina's Odessa pattern.

I didn't alter the size at all, and it does not fit my big squash (23.5 inches). We have big heads in my family, hats never fit, and look goofy too. I pretty much knew it wouldn't fit and wouldn't be for me, but I wanted to knit this pattern and try my hand at knitting with beads. I bought the beads first (I love the sparkly blueness of them) then matched the yarn on line.

While knitting, I was thinking that it would look good on my Aunt Mary. She's the sweetest woman, probably 80? years old, legally blind, and cute as can be. I thought she'd love the so soft yarn and the feel of the beads throughout her hat. So I was knitting away, thinking of Aunt Mary, and asked Howie what he thought about the hat - who it would look good on. He looked at me and said "The only person I can think of that it would look good on is Aunt Mary." How weird is that? So it's going to Aunt Mary in the mail this week.

Check out the Galleries

Today was sunny. And Howie and I were both home. So I gathered a basketful of sweaters and knitted items and we headed outside for a photo shoot.

I've been trying to capture some of my finished objects for a gallery, but it's an all-day job. I already took some photos at my sister's house so those were ready to go. So we took pleny of photos, then Howie built the galleries. I still need to put comments in for many of the items, but at least it's started. Now I have to find everyone I've knit for in the past and take their photo wearing their knitted item!
Actually, I have prints of lots of my finished objects - I just need to find a scanner to digitalize them.
Enjoy the photos!

Boy Oh Boy, Do We Have Sweaters!

The birthday boy with his new sweater and yellow cake.

Here are the three boys wearing sweaters I've made for them. Ethan was wearing the green one on the left when we showed up for the party. I wanted to take a pic of him in his sweater, then Timmy opened his present and promptly put it on.

Not to be outdone by his big brothers, Peter wanted to get in on it. So he went upstairs and found two sweaters I had knit and modeled them for me. Like the tongue that he just couldn't keep in his mouth? He loves the pockets!

PeterCable.jpg This cabled sweater was knit for Timmy about 4 or 5 years ago and now it's Peter's. I love the fact that my sister dressed the boys in handmade sweaters over the years and they enjoy wearing them now.
I also took photos of multiple knitted items that I've made for the boys and my sister over the years - soon to be posted in my gallery (as soon as the gallery is actually a gallery).

Report from Timmy after a few days: it's the most comfortable, warmest sweater he's ever owned!

I've got other FO's to post, but that will have to wait until I take a few decent pictures.
