- I am the youngest of five children.

- My oldest sister, who was 5 years older than me, died in 1997.
- My family hasn't been the same since.
- My other sister is just one year older than me.
- When we were kids, we were called "The Little Girls".
- When we were in our twenties, we went on a six month trip across the United
States and Canada. She still wishes we had taken the time to drive to Alaska.
- I grew up in Massachusetts and have lived almost my whole adult life in
Maine.
- I can't imagine living in Mass. again.
- I'm married to the sweetest man, Howie.
- We both were married before but those marriages didn't stick.
- I'm sure
this one will.
- We arrived at our wedding in kayaks. None of the guests knew, so their
backs were turned as we approached. Finally someone recognized us before
we landed.
- We spent our honeymoon kayaking and camping in Alaska. I think it was the
most romantic thing we could have done.
- My sister is upset because I got to Alaska before she did.
- I quit my job and went back to school at 39 to become a Physician Assistant.
- I met Howie on a blind date.
- I met my first husband in a bar.
- Howie proposed on the beach where we were later married. It's also where
my sister's ashes were thrown into the ocean.
- I have to have my coffee every morning, preferably a latte.
- We have a dog from the shelter named Moebius. Howie (the math and computer
guy) named him.
- I like the name but I usually call him Puppy Dog, because he's still a
puppy at 4 years old.
- We live in the woods on a dead-end road.
- The only kind of ice cream worth eating is coffee.
- I prefer salty-crunchy to sweet.
- I just learned to SCUBA dive this year.
- Howie taught me.
- I was raised Catholic but haven't been to mass in years.
- Howie is Jewish so we celebrate both christian and Jewish holidays.
- I like getting a present each day for eight days but sometimes it's hard
to wait.
- This year we made it to day five and then opened all the rest.
- Howie is my tech support guy for all things computerized.
- My sister and I look at things at craft fairs and say "I Can Do That".
Then we go home and make our own.
- We thought that would be a great name for a TV show - "I Can Do That".
- I'm the "Doer" and Howie is the "Dreamer".
- We own a 2004 Toyota Prius and put 25,000 miles on it before it was one
year old.
- We took the car on a road (and ferry) trip to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland
when it was about three weeks old.
- Newfoundland is really far away.
- I knit a sweater for Howie during the trip. He calls it his 3,600 mile
sweater.
- My vision is 20/300. That means I can't see the big E on the eye chart.
- For the first time ever, I have two pairs of glasses. One wire rimmed and
one square, black rimmed.
- I picked about 12 quarts of blueberries in my backyard this summer. I used
a blueberry rake for the first time.
- We joined a CSA this year and had more organic vegetables
than we could eat. We're definitely in for next year.
- I saw the Grateful Dead for the first time at my college in 1983.
- I saw them at least 40 times before Jerry died.
- I made a deal with myself that I would learn how to spin this year.
- I learned to knit in 1990 because I like to wear sweaters.
- The first thing I knit was a Lopi Icelandic sweater. Nobody told me that
was a difficult project for a beginner.
- I still own the sweater but don't wear it anymore.
- I don't have any idea how many items I've knit over the years but I am
going to try to figure it out somewhere on this blog.
- Howie and I decided to glue hundreds of action figures to the hood of his
old SUV. It wouldn't pass inspection so we had to pull them all off.
- It was fun driving around having people take pictures of us from their
cars.
- The truck is still not inspected.
- My feet and hands are always cold.
- I sleep with socks on in the summer.
- I don't like diamonds, especially diamond rings.
- Howie gave me a necklace for an engagement present.
- I've been in a bookgroup with the same five women for eight years. Nobody
else is allowed to join. We all have bad memories of a bookgroup gone out
of control.
- I roast my own coffee.
- My favorite time to go to the beach is in the winter.
- I'm left handed, but play sports right handed.
- I need absolute silence to sleep.
- Coming up with 100 things about me is difficult.
- I'm afraid of heights but learned to rock climb just to see if I could.
- I have a thing for shoes.
- and sweaters.
- oh, and yarn.
- Howie is way more organized than I am. He's constantly organizing and rearranging
my stuff.
- He likes to sell my stuff on eBay just to get it out of the house.
- I love to cook. All sorts of food.
- I like to read cookbooks cover to cover.
- I can't sing but love to sing really loud in the car.
- I like to shovel snow and hate to mow the lawn.
- I think the lawn mowing thing stems from the fact that growing up we had
a pair of "lawn mowing" sneakers that we all had to wear when it was our
turn to mow the lawn. Being the youngest, they were about 5 sizes too big
for me. And they were neon green. And my friends might see me.
- I switched from PC to Mac two years ago and love it.
- I'm a cribbage player from way back. My father taught me when I was a kid.
- We played so much cards as kids, I learned to count: 9, 10, Jack, Queen...
- I still love playing cards, especially poker.
- I can't play Monopoly anymore because of the games that ended in fights
as kids.
- I can't stand to be tickled because my brother used to hold me down and
tickle me until I cried. He was a terrible brother as a kid but is a wonderful
brother as an adult.
- His antics as a kid make for great family stories. He denies every one.
- My parents are still happily married. They'll be celebrating their 50th
anniversary in 2007.
- Sometimes I'm embarassed to be an American because of George Bush and
his administration.
- Our next big purchase for the house is going to be a hot tub for out on
the deck.
- We compost but we don't have a garden.
- My favorite food of all time is lobster.
- I guess I live in the right place for lobster consumption.
- Howie buys me lobster every year for Valentine's Day (I told you he was
the sweetest).
- My first car was a VW Rabbit, light blue. With a sun roof. That leaked.
I loved that car.
- When I was a kid we had a VW bug, and my sister and I had to ride in the
little grocery compartment behind the back seat. Our heads would hit the
back window every time we went over a bump.
- I got my first brand new bike for Christmas when I was in sixth grade.
Then my brother (not the tickling one) drove it into a parked car and wrecked
it.
- I got my next new bike when I was in ninth grade.
- I have never colored or permed my hair. It's now going grey and that's
ok with me.
- I have two tattoos. The first one I got when I was in Hawaaii in 1989.
The second one is a replica of a piece of art my oldest sister made before
she died. I like the second one better.
- I collect heart-shaped beach rocks.
- I get grumpy when I am either: hungry, tired, cold, or have to pee.
- It's really bad when I am two or more of the above.
- The only time I wear makeup is on Halloween.
- I never wear perfume; I can't stand smelly things.
- I work in a doctor's office and hate going to the doctor for myself.
- I never thought I'd make it to number 100.
